Penshaw Monument - Greetings Card by Mike Caine
The Earl of Durham's Monument, better known as Penshaw Monument, sits-looking the North East just off the A19 on top of Penshaw Hill. The folly is a replica of the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens and can be seen for miles around. Depending which crop the farmer has planted you could have a sea of yellow rape seed flowers or as seen here, poppies dancing amongst the field of wheat with the warm glow of the setting sun.
