The practise of painting the local view has many precedents, of which perhaps Cezanne’s series of Mont Ste Victoire is simply the best know example. I am fortunate to have Roseberry Topping close to home, and repeating (almost) the composition, helps illuminate the enormous seasonal variations of this region as a whole.
