Walls and boundaries preserve evidence of the human interaction with the landscape by their mere physical presence, and also by the enclosures’, sometimes idiosyncratic, and usually evocative, place names - highly localised in this instance to very small areas. The gentle and diffuse light brings out the wet freshness of the mosses, ferns, and rushes on the ground, and lichens on the walls themselves.
