Join us for this residential workshop based on the North Yorkshire coast. Located on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park, it is one of England's most captivating coastal stretches. And one of the best for photography.

Yorkshire is blessed with the most wonderful coastline from Victorian piers to dramatic cliffs and ship-wrecks - its got the lot!

This coastline is a glorious combination of geology, history and architecture. From the cliff faces and rocky shorelines around Saltwick Bay to the architectural heritage of Whitby, and the historic smuggling villages of Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes, there is no shortage of photographic locations to inspire you. Where the North York Moors meets the sea, the coast predominantly faces north and east so during this mid-summer period, the sun sets and rises, over the North Sea creating yet more great photographic opportunities.

Joe Cornish has been photographing his local coastline for thirty years and it has provided the inspiration for some of his most iconic images. Places likely to be visited will include Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Sandsend. Depending on the forecast, we may also spend some time at the wonderful location of Falling Foss. Situated in the forest of Littlebeck in the North York Moors National Park, it is just 15 minutes inland and boasts a dramatic waterfall, beech woodland and photogenic packhorse bridge.

This is an intensive workshop specifically designed for intermediate and advanced level photographers giving you a chance to improve your photography while gaining an insight into Joe’s working methods and philosophy in a small, friendly and informal group.

Joe & Mark deliberately try to make the workshops not too strenuous and they very much tailor the workshops to suit the participants. However some of the best locations do involve some short walks over rough terrain and therefore a reasonable level of fitness is recommended if you want to make the most of this workshop.
