Location: Joe Cornish Gallery, Northallerton

Course tutor: Adrian Beasley

Level: Beginner

Group size: 10 maximum

Time: 9:30 - 17:00

This one day course is aimed at anyone who wants to get started with Adobe Lightroom.  By the end of the day, you will be able to import, organise, edit and export your images.  The course comes with a supporting booklet so you can concentrate on doing the practical steps in class and scribble notes to follow when you get home.

The workshop is held here at the gallery and led by experienced tutor and Adobe Certified Expert Adrian Beasley

This workshop is ideal for beginners or for those who think they are intermediate but have got into bad habits! With this course you can give yourself the opportunity to get to grips with the basics and improve your confidence when using Lightroom.

Adobe Lightroom is likely to be considered the most popular and arguably the best photo editor available. The fact that it also includes a number of photo management tools to help you import, organise, manage and find your images helps make it a vital tool for the contemporary photographer.

These days as a digital photographer you are suddenly responsible for all the things that your lab did but didn’t tell you!  You have to understand colour space, white balance, resolution and all the creative aspects of turning your shot into a respectable print.  Not just that, but your camera now takes thousands of images without a sign of a full memory card and you now have to decide which ones are any good and where to put them.
Fortunately, help is at hand and this workshop is the place to start!

What to bring:

You will need to bring your own laptop loaded with a copy of Adobe Lightroom. Don't worry if you haven't used Lightroom before or have a copy already. Just download the 30-day trial version shortly before the course.

The workshop will be held at the Joe Cornish Gallery within the spacious Long Gallery on the 1st Floor. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The workshop group is limited to 10 to enable each participant to receive plenty of help and support.

Agenda:

Adrian will aim to cover the following topics but this may change on the day to meet the groups needs.

  • An introduction to the Lightroom package and how it works
  • Creating a catalogue
  • Importing images
  • Organising your files
  • Editing - this includes straightening and cropping, adjustments, spot removal, graduated filters and black and white.
  • Getting your image out of Lightroom

Location:

The Joe Cornish Gallery is located on Zetland Street yards from the High Street in Northallerton. The town is located close to both the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks and can be accessed by road via the A1 and A19. It also has a railway station on the London to Edinburgh East Coast mainline which is only a 10 minute walk from the town centre
