This hands-on printing workshop will help you to understand the technical aspects of producing a high quality photographic print.  We will delve into the essential details of your setup, colour management and developing techniques, then look at the many printing options before sending your images to the printer.

About the workshop:

There is nothing quite as satisfying as holding one of your own prints made on a beautiful, heavy, art paper.  Many photographers consider the print as the final, and most rewarding, step in the photography process but it is a step so often lacking in our modern world.  Recently, there has been a resurgence in printing as photographers re-connect with the beauty of the physical form.  However, printing your work to a professional standard takes a little more than pressing the print button!

This workshop is ideal for those who own a printer and have struggled to get good results, are looking to buy a printer or have had problems sending images out for print.  The workshop is full of practical advice to help you to print with confidence at home.  You will also receive a comprehensive workbook covering all the details and more.

By the end of the day you will have confidence in your system settings, understand the calibration steps and appreciate the benefits of different papers.

Agenda:

The workshop is split into two halves, in the morning we will be covering the theory and looking at lots of example materials to help de-mistify the process.  In the afternoon, you will be editing and printing.  We will have access to an Epson professional pigment printer and a range of glossy and matte papers from Fotospeed so that you can experiment with different approaches to editing and printing.  You will be able to take home 3 A3 prints on paper of your choice.

Participants are expected to use their own computer loaded with their editor of choice (PC or Mac - sorry no iPads!)

Adrian will be demonstrating techniques using Lightroom, Photoshop and Nik Silver Efx

Tea & Coffee will be provided. Lunch is not included but the Gallery Café is on site or you can bring your own packed lunch.
