Workshop Date:

Monday 9th September 2019

Location:         Joe Cornish Gallery followed by Field Trip

Tutor:              Mark Banks

Level:              Beginner & Intermediate

Group Size:      4

Cost:               £195

North Yorkshire is the perfect backdrop for creating beautiful landscape images - with the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and the Yorkshire Coast all within a short driving distance from our base in Northallerton. On the day your workshop leader will discuss the best location for shooting images after checking out the latest weather forecast.

The workshop is aimed at photographers of any level who wish to hone their landscape photography skills further from beginners to those with more experience.

We will discuss the fundamentals of the art and discuss how to improve compositional skills. We will also look at more advanced techniques such as using graduated filters. Basic knowledge of how apertures, shutter speeds and ISO work is all that is needed. The workshop will encourage participants to think a little deeper about your photography. We will explore both colour and black and white image options to suit your compositions and look at giving consideration to the location and the weather conditions on the day.

Exertion:  EASY
The workshop starts here at the Joe Cornish Gallery for initial discussions and tuition. You will then be transported by Mark to a location for practical photography tuition. This will be chosen by Mark on the day after checking the weather conditions but with the North York Moors, Yorkshire Dales and Yorkshire coast on our doorstep there will be no shortage of options. Mark will return you to the gallery at the end of the workshop.

    •        Refreshments on arrival
    •        At least 8 hours tuition by Mark Banks
    •        One-to-One feedback and advice throughout the day
    •        Transport to locations throughout the day

Mark Banks is an experienced and talented workshop leader, in addition to being a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society. He has been hosting One-Day workshops for the gallery and assisting Joe Cornish with our Residential Workshop programme for the past 10 years.

“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.” Joe Cornish
