Your Tutor:

Andy is an experienced workshop tutor and has lead multiple workshops for us over the last 5 years.

Originally from Kilkenny in the Republic of Ireland, Andy Broderick arrived in the UK in 1997 to study Fine Art at Teesside University and since graduating in 2000, has been working as an artist from his studio in Saltburn on the North Yorkshire coast, exhibiting widely throughout the country and internationally.

He works with natural materials and pigments to create beautiful drawings of native plants and wildlife. Andy brings a fresh and exciting approach to drawing that develops strength and ability in drawing, and also nurtures an attitude of inventiveness and experimentation in the creative process and has previously exhibited here at the gallery.

I choose to draw from living creatures – animals and human figures. I am very interested in the feeling of animation and the sense of being alive that lines and marks can convey when portraying these subjects. The key elements in my drawings are spirit and process.”
