Level: Intermediate    Group size: 4

Autumn offers the most diverse and rich colour palette of any season, which is why it's the most popular and exciting time in most landscape photographers' calendar. However, making sense of a woodland landscape, and doing it justice in a photograph, can be very challenging. Therefore we have the just the workshop for you!

After an initial welcome and introductory talk at the Joe Cornish Gallery in Northallerton, Mark will transport all participants to the stunning setting of Thorp Perrow Arboretum just 20 minutes away (Entry Included). From there he will offer tuition, advice, tips and tricks on all aspects of creating a beautiful autumn woodland image including...

  •     Achieving a balanced woodland landscape
  •     Looking at abstracts of the landscape
  •     Considering lines, shapes and movement within an image
  •     Intentional Camera Movement
  •     Macro (close-up) photography

Tutor Mark Banks is an experienced and talented workshop leader, in addition to being a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society. He has been hosting One-Day workshops for the gallery and assisting Joe with our Residential Workshop programme for a few years now.

“Mark Banks is quite simply one of the best teachers of photography I have ever met. His secret is an apparently endless supply of patience, and an acute analytical approach to developing systematic problem-solving tactics in photography, which he makes effortless and fun to learn, whether in the field or in the editing suite. Mark’s artistry, empathy, kindness and charm mean he is always a joy to work with, or to be taught by.”
