Mike Caine

Mike Caine began his photographic journey as a professional photographer for the RAF before becoming a commercial photographer for a number of years. This was where he learnt his art and craft before his career took him into Television.
He has now been a freelance Lighting Cameraman for over 20 years, filming a wide range of programmes for the BBC, ITV, C4, C5, Discovery and corporate clients. Working as a cameraman has resulted in him covering a diverse range of subjects in a variety of locations around the world, with subjects ranging from filming wildlife in Costa Rica, to fast cars on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

As a photographer and cameraman he works with light. Mike’s ethos is that lighting is the vital ingredient to making every shoot a success, both in setting the scene and creating the atmosphere. This is true whether it is for a simple interview, a dramatic television drama or when he is out photographing the landscape and it is this ability to utilise the light that helps him to   create the best shot and film he possibly can.

Mike likes nothing more than being out in the open air, where he can wait for hours for the magical light to shine through, to capture that perfect moment. Mike, who regularly works as a cameraman on BBC Countryfile says, "I don’t think the natural beauty of the United Kingdom can be beaten. We are lucky to live on this beautiful Island and I want to capture all the best bits; so in the North or the South, in the East or the West you may just spot me sitting on a hillside or standing on a beach, waiting for that magical moment to appear."
