The greenest greens imaginable appear in spring, especially when combined with plentiful rain and sunlight to promote growth. Greens are an incredible problem for photographers, such is the overwhelming dominance of this colour in situ. However, it would appear too cynical not to acknowledge its life-affirming qualities, and at least in certain moments its intensity can be matched by other colours in the landscape. Although the Cleveland Hills are a long-standing favourite view from anyone living in this part of North Yorkshire this was my first effort from this particular spot, which ironically is one I pass frequently when dog-walking. The shape of the brilliant yellow gorse and the almost parallel lines of the cloud formation create an echoing frame within the composition.
