Perched on a tongue of the Whin sill, the remains of Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance are less important to this composition than the wave-beaten round boulders in the foreground. With a furious sea and rapidly rising tide, this was the moment when everything came together. Within seconds I had retreated up the beach as the next wave overwhelmed the foreground.
