Georgina Harrison

Living and growing up around the North Yorkshire coast totally shaped Georgina’ desire to record the constant changes of the coast. I like the way the tide has the ability to reveal the land and then cover it just as photography makes things invisible and visible.
As a commercial photographer I am constantly aware of digital advances and technology within the industry, but I am always drawn back to the sheer simplicity of recording time and light. I use pinhole cameras to record my horizons as I feel the long exposure heightens the sense of the constant shifting environment, and the push and pull of the tide.
When recording my seascapes I also like to go into the water with the camera so it shows the tide constantly pushing and pulling revealing subtle movement and the end result is balanced between the changes of the tide and sky line. I also capture my seascapes on out of date film so i never quite know how the film is going to react to the colours of the landscape each time.

I feel the end result of each seascape is something that is contemplative and quite minimal but at the same time each time you look you see different subtle changes.
