Angela Chalmers is a visual artist based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Her work explores themes of gender, memory and identity using the process of painting, printmaking and photography. More recent work explores camera-less photography using an alternative printing process called cyanotype. Angela produces photograms by placing 3D objects directly onto hand-coated sensitised paper. These objects tend to evoke memories, and become treasured keepsakes. Angela is influenced by the Surrealists and German Expressionism, and is inspired by the works of Frida Kahlo and Francesca Woodman.
