Detail of Garlic clove resting on a slab of wet Cumberland slate.

The translucent skin has opened revealing the delicate purple cloves within. The small lens aperture has extended the depth of field to record the fine detail and delicate veins in the peeling gossamer skin. The deep bluey grays and texture of the slate add extra depth and richness to the composition.

One of a series of simple compositions with a 'French Kitchen' theme by Keith Hodgson.
