These fishermens huts lie in an area on the South Gare opposite Paddy’s Hole, which gets its name because of the many Irishmen who helped to build the South Gare.  The huts are still actively used to this day.
South Gare is an area of reclaimed land and breakwater approximately one mile north of Redcar on the north east coast, constructed from thousands of tons of basic slag from blast furnaces, silt dredged from the river bed and huge blocks of concrete
