Blast furnace on the South Gare, an area of reclaimed land and breakwater approximately one mile north of Redcar on the north east coast, constructed from thousands of tons of basic slag from blast furnaces, silt dredged from the river bed and huge blocks of concrete.
The box-shaped building in the distance is the nuclear power station at Hartlepool.
This artwork was inspired by the possible closure of the Corus Steelworks on Teesside and was produced during the time the works were mothballed in 2010
